Twee kindjes heerlijk slapend in hun tentjes.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Two kids asleep in their little tents. Hub on a dinner meeting, making my own yoghurt, fans on and 30 degrees on our IKEA thermometer. Welcome to Gambella, we finally made it!!
We’ve been here for the last three days now , first pictures up on the wall, more and more things are getting there own their place in the house. Almost all suitcases are unpacked and Boaz and Ella love all the little toys and games they find while exploring the house.

But, let’s start a the beginning. Two weeks ago we finally got the approval from the hospital to travel. The same day we booked the tickets and two days later we were off on the plane. We planned it well; flying at 8pm, kids asleep and up and running the next morning in Addis. But, Boaz had a different idea about that…. Not sure if he got a virus, wrong food or what ever but within two hours he was puking and he did not stop for three days :(. So glad my mother in law was with me on that flight and enough spare clothes for up to 4(!!) changes… Nevertheless it was great to see and cuddle daddy again!

A week Addis was good to be together and start planning again. We did heaps of shopping, saw many stores, compared all the prizes and in the end bought most of the stuff just around the corner of the ZOA office;). Traveling Addis is a bit of a challenge. Getting to the other side of the city cost you easily up to one and a half hour (15km!). Buying heaps of stuff? Yes indeed. The house waiting for us here in Gambella just had all the very basics. And knowing that we would spend quite a bit of time in the house we decided to do a few investments: big fridge, washing machine and some nice furniture.

Besides all the shopping there was quite a bit of paperwork to do and… we visited the schools Ella will join once in a while (Dutch and International school).
On Friday we said goodbye to grandma, it was great to have her around for the week! Saturday we packed most of our luggage in a pickup truck, Sunday we flew off.

But these are all the facts, you probably would like to know a bit more how it feels to live in Gambella. I will try to give a better impression in my next blogs.
We’re just living our ‘normal life’ in many ways. Doing our day to day stuff, because Boaz and Ella are just asking for these routines. And, to be honest it’s nice to have a bit of our routines back after many weeks of being everywhere. Ella is already used to on and off power, the on and off water, to drink only filtered water and to be aware of the mosquitoes so to close all doors and wear long pants in the evening. Boaz loves injerra (the local sour pancake) even for breakfast. The guard is already his best friend and he starts to climb everything he can find.

We made a first visit to the market and we connected to the first people around town. More to come!
